Not everyone has the time for a multi-day liveaboard, but that does not mean you have to miss the best of Komodo National Park. With the Komodo Island Full Day Trip by Speedboat from Waturanda Trip, you can visit 6 of the most iconic destinations in the park in a single, action-packed day.

Starting from just IDR 1,350,000 per person, this is one of the most complete and affordable ways to experience Komodo National Park without sacrificing the highlights. From the dramatic ridge of Padar Island at sunrise to the gentle glide of manta rays beneath you at Manta Point, everything is packed into one seamless, expertly guided adventure by speedboat.

Whether you are a solo traveler on a tight schedule, a couple looking for a memorable day out, or a group of friends visiting Labuan Bajo for the first time, this tour is designed to give you the full Komodo experience from dawn to dusk.

Why Choose a Full Day Trip by Speedboat?

A speedboat covers the distances between islands in Komodo National Park significantly faster than a traditional phinisi liveaboard. This speed advantage is what makes it possible to reach 6 destinations in a single day without feeling rushed at each stop.

Here is how the full day trip compares to a standard liveaboard:

Full Day Trip (Speedboat) Liveaboard (3D2N)
Duration 1 day 3 days, 2 nights
Price From IDR 1,350,000/pax From IDR 2,700,000/pax
Destinations 6 in one day 9 over 3 days
Best for Short stays, budget-conscious, first-timers Deep exploration, photography, relaxation
Included meals Lunch box, snack, mineral water, coffee/tea All meals

If you have one free day in Labuan Bajo and want to make the most of it, the full day speedboat trip is the answer. You still get Padar Island, Pink Beach, Komodo Island and the manta rays, just in a faster, more compact format.

Where You Will Go: 6 Destinations in 1 Day

1. Padar Island (Hiking)

The first stop sets the tone for the entire day. Padar Island is one of the most photographed places in all of Indonesia, and for good reason. A trek to the viewpoint rewards you with a sweeping panorama of three bays, each a different color: white sand, black sand, and the rare pink sand that Komodo National Park is famous for.

The hike takes roughly 30 to 45 minutes each way and involves some steep sections, but the view from the top is genuinely one of the most spectacular sights in Southeast Asia. Arriving early in the morning means cooler temperatures and the chance to catch the golden light of sunrise over the hills.

Tips: Wear trekking shoes or sturdy sandals. Bring a small bottle of water and sunblock. The stairs are paved for most of the climb, but the final stretch is rocky.

2. Pink Beach (Snorkeling or Swimming)

Pink Beach is one of only a handful of pink-sand beaches in the world. The blush color comes from microscopic marine organisms called Foraminifera, whose red and pink shells mix with white coral sand to create the distinctive hue.

The water here is crystal-clear, calm, and teeming with colorful reef fish and vibrant coral. It is one of the most rewarding snorkeling spots on the entire tour, with visibility that regularly reaches several meters below the surface. If you prefer to simply swim or relax on the shore, that is equally wonderful.

Tips: Snorkeling equipment is included in your trip. The beach can get busy later in the morning, so arriving early gives you more peaceful conditions.

3. Komodo Island (Trekking with Rangers)

Komodo Island is the centrepiece of the national park and the home of the Komodo dragon, the world’s largest living lizard. Weighing up to 70 kilograms and reaching lengths of up to 3 meters, these ancient reptiles are found nowhere else on Earth in their wild state.

Your guided trek on Komodo Island takes you through dry savanna and forest with an experienced park ranger. Sightings are common and genuinely dramatic. Beyond the dragons, you may also encounter Timor deer, wild boar, cockatoos, and other endemic wildlife along the trail.

Tips: Follow the ranger’s instructions at all times and maintain a safe distance from the dragons. Comfortable walking shoes are strongly recommended. Payments at the national park are cash only in IDR.

4. Taka Makassar (Snorkeling or Swimming)

Taka Makassar is a tiny, pristine sandbar that appears to float in the middle of the turquoise sea. It is one of the most surreal and photogenic spots in Komodo National Park, with shallow turquoise water surrounding a strip of white sand barely large enough to stand on.

This stop is perfect for a swim, a few photos, or simply floating in the impossibly clear water. The surrounding reef is also excellent for snorkeling, with healthy coral and a variety of tropical fish just beneath the surface.

5. Manta Point (Snorkeling)

Manta Point is the highlight that many travelers talk about long after they return home. This is a cleaning station where giant oceanic manta rays gather to have parasites removed by smaller fish. The result is an extraordinary concentration of mantas in a relatively small area, often visible even from the surface of the water.

Snorkeling alongside manta rays is a completely different experience from simply seeing them from a boat. These graceful, wing-like creatures can have wingspans of up to 5 to 7 meters, and watching them glide silently beneath you is one of the most memorable wildlife encounters in the entire Asia-Pacific region.

Manta sightings are highly likely but depend on sea conditions and season. December through March typically offers the highest density of manta activity.

Tips: Do not touch or chase the manta rays. Maintain a respectful distance and let them approach you naturally. Your guide will brief you before entering the water.

6. Siaba Island or Mawan Island (Snorkeling or Relaxing)

The final snorkel stop is at Siaba or Mawan Island, two sites known for their rich coral gardens, abundant sea turtles, and calm, shallow water that is ideal for swimmers of all abilities. Sea turtles are commonly spotted resting on the coral or drifting gently through the current, offering beautiful photo opportunities without the need for any diving experience.

This is also a peaceful spot to relax on the boat deck, watch the last of the afternoon light play across the water, and begin the journey back to Labuan Bajo harbor in time for the evening.
